Celebrations

Birthdays, reunions and festival nights in the hills

Some birthdays deserve more than a dinner. Bring your people to the tea estates of Suryanelli or the green quiet of Kodaikanal, and celebrate around a fire under a sky full of stars.

Why the hills

Celebrate somewhere that becomes part of the story

Guests have celebrated birthdays at Hostyard Suryanelli out in the tea gardens. A celebration weekend here could be sunrise at Kolukkumalai, a walk through the tea and a long evening around the fire pit. Friends book a dorm together, or mix dorm beds with the private room.

At Hostyard Kodai, the lawn and the ten acres of green give a group space to spread out, and evenings tend to end around a fire.

Tell the team what you are celebrating when you enquire. They will tell you what can be arranged for your dates, from rooms to the plan for the evening.

Ways to celebrate with us

Birthday weekends

Two nights, one sunrise, one long evening by the fire. Book a dorm for the gang or a private room for the two of you.

Reunions

College friends, old colleagues or cousins: a dorm of your own makes it feel like a sleepover in the hills.

Festival nights

We host nights around festivals, like the Chaathan Gala at Halloween and the Breathe retreat over Diwali.

Celebrations: quick answers

Can we book a whole dorm for a birthday group?

Often, yes, depending on dates. Send a group enquiry with your dates and numbers and the team will tell you what is available.

Can you arrange a cake or decorations?

Ask the team when you enquire. What can be arranged depends on the property and the date.

Which stay is better for a celebration?

Suryanelli has a private room, a women-only dorm and mixed dorms of different sizes, close to Kolukkumalai. Kodaikanal has hostel beds and three kinds of private room: the Retreat, Courtyard and Suite Rooms, with more open space.
